Mayor John Rodriquez shares the road

Dear Lily,
Thank you for your invitation to participate in the bicycle rally this Sunday. Unfortunately, Mayor Rodriguez will not be available to attend. However, he would like to express his strong support for improving the safety of cyclists in Greater Sudbury and would welcome your creative suggestions on how pedestrians, cyclists and motorists can more safely share the road ways, sidewalks and trails through our city, particularly in areas where there isn't sufficient space to widen the roadway.

Mayor Rodriguez acknowledges that although the City has made some steps forward with improvements such as the bike trail from Copper Cliff and on Paris Street and the widening of the curb lane on Regent St. in the section currently under construction, there is still much to do. It is his hope that a comprehensive plan can be brought before Council that will address some of the challenges and will make cycling a much safer activity.
